Add in quick meals for those nights you know you’ll be home late from work, and cook double portions to use for lunch the next day or to freeze.

5. Evaluate and reward your progress.

Self-reflection is a big part of setting and achieving your goals. Blindly doing the same thing over and over again will never work because you’ll never know if it’s actually accomplishing anything or not!

If you really want to change your life, you need to take time out from time to time to track how well you are doing – and then celebrate it!

Don’t drink for two weeks? Well done, this is a huge milestone and you should be incredibly proud of yourself!

Maybe you have an interview for a new job – sure, you got the job (yet!) Not, but this is a big step and should give you a big confidence boost. So embrace it and celebrate it as one step further the right way.

Thinking about how you feel at different stages of your journey will also keep you focused. When you check in with yourself regularly and notice that you feel much healthier and happier, you are more motivated to do what you do.

Keep a journal or make short notes about how you feel, and reread it when you have a hard day and forget why you’re putting in all that effort.

6. Keep it consistent.

Many of us feel like we need to do a major overhaul and make big lifestyle changes, like pledging never to swear per Eat chocolate again or decide to exercise every day.

While these are admirable goals in some ways, they are not always the right way to succeed. Give yourself small things to be consistent with on a regular basis rather than making a big commitment.

The more realistic and consistent your goals are, the more likely you are to stick to them. We would all give up at some point if we didn’t lose a stone every week. So give yourself a better view of long-term success by sticking to small, manageable changes.

7. Focus on imperfect actions.

When we decide to turn our lives around, we often want everything to be perfect, so we think we have to do things perfectly to get those results.

This could mean that we feel disappointed in ourselves when, for example, we don’t have time to work out for a full hour. We get so fixated on having an hour and being our best selves that we forget that even 20 minutes makes a difference.

Similarly, we might have a day where we eat a piece of chocolate – it doesn’t mean the day is ruined, but that we are still better off than before we ate, say, 170 pieces of chocolate!

Accept that some imperfect efforts are better than none at all, rather than having an "all or nothing" mentality! This helps you stay realistic and stick with things longer.

8. Build a strong support system.

Patience and support are needed to change your life. Let your loved ones participate as much as you want to.

You may not want or need to disclose all the reasons you are making this change, but you can definitely include them to some degree.

Having people to help you does not mean you are weak! It means you really want to achieve your goals, and you know it’s easier when your loved ones support you.

It’s okay to ask for motivation or advice. You might want to ask a friend to help you prepare for interviewing for a new job, or ask a family member to help you figure out a good budget or savings strategy.

Remember that they are not judging you for the things you need help with. Just being proud of the changes you’re making.

9. Develop new skills.

If you’re in the mood to overhaul your life but aren’t sure how to go about it, you may need to learn a new skill.

This may be necessary to achieve the goals you are striving for, z. B. Training for a new job or achieving a physical goal.

It can be difficult to prioritize your health, especially if you are in a cycle of negative habits, but it is critical to success. You will quickly feel so much better and then want to continue to feel so good – and thus continue to make those great choices to maintain your new healthy, happy outlook on life.

12. Seek professional help.

Of course, there are some things that need a little more outside support and expertise.

If you think your problems require more than a little yoga and a color-coded weekly planner, consider professional help.

There is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to counseling, therapy or life coaching. You should be proud that you are at the stage where you have acknowledged that you can benefit from additional guidance.

It takes a lot of time to realize they may need help with addiction issues and unhealthy behavior patterns, and that’s the first step.

You may not be struggling with these more serious issues, but may still benefit from counseling or coaching. You may find that this gives your mental health a boost, which also gives you more chances to achieve your goals.
